Time to get dirty!

My friend Heidi somehow convinced me and a few of my friends to participate in a race known as the Dirty Dash. I was a little hesitant because of how sick I've been, but how can you say "no" when it comes to playing in the mud? So on Sept 22, we woke up early, squished 7 of us into her 5-seat car, and headed up to Soldier Hollow. We even had team shirts (Thanks Matt and Heidi!). Our team was called the "Muckrackers", or "the Mucks". Heidi is an editor for the Daily Herald - hence the team name. :) Here is a before the race shot:

We had the option of running either a 5k or a 10k. Both ended at a long slip-n-slide before the final mud pits. All along the path you would run into different sorts of obstacles. Most of the obstacles involved mud in one way or another. My favorite was probably the slip-n-slide. It was so fun! Our heat started at 8:20am, so the first few obstacles were freezing! I had to convince myself that jumping/wading/swimming in the mud would be "fun" since I couldn't feel my hands after awhile. :) But after it warmed up, we had a great time.  Some of the teams went all out and wore all sorts of different and crazy costumes. We already started planning what we will do next year. Thanks Heidi for "dragging" us along! We love to play dirty!
