So a few weeks ago I somehow convinced my roommates to go on a little day adventure with me. We decided to head down south for a little canopy zip line and river rafting adventure. When we first got there I was feeling pretty brave.
I wasn't feeling quite as brave once I got to the top, and had to make the first jump. But after a time or two, we got the hang of it. Since the Olympics were going on that week, we decided to rate ourselves on our style as we cruised down the zip-line and our landing at the other side. I think Heidi beat us all! And I think I only crashed into a tree once. Which is pretty good for me! It was a bummer that we didn't figure out until the very end that we could turn upside down...
While we were there, we also got to go river rafting for a few hours. I think that was definitely my favorite part of the day!
At the beginning, they give you a little crash course for safety. The guide asked for a volunteer to jump into the river, so we could practice "saving" someone who falls out of the boat. Mary Lu quickly volunteered. But as soon as she jumped in the river (and realized that the water was freezing!), she tried to get back in the boat. But our guide wouldn't let her! He made us paddle away from her. So mean. But don't you worry, I saved her! :) Of course, she probably didn't feel saved as I unceremoniously dropped her into the bottom of the boat....Sorry Mary Lu!
Overall, it was a great day. Totally worth the drive. And just in case you were wondering, Big Rock Candy Mountain does indeed look like a giant marshmallow, and there is truly a rock on the mountain that looks a woman playing an organ. Weird. But very cool!
