Catch-up time!

So much for my good intentions! Now I've got a couple of months to summarize. So I'll start with October. Heidi, Mary Lu, and myself decided it would be good to get a way for a Saturday, so we headed down to Little Wild Horse, outside of Goblin Valley to do a little hiking. So fun! It had rained the day before, so we ended up doing a little "swimming" and shimmying in the slot canyon, but we had a great time!

A couple of weeks later, Mary Lu, Allyson, and I headed back east for a little adventure. Here are a few pics to summarize the trip:

Day 1-2: Philadelphia. History nerds paradise! Scary city. Yummy cheesesteak. Land of Benjamin Franklin.

Day 3: DRIVING. Stayed in New Jersey. Crossed the Delaware River at Washington's Crossing. Passed through New York City (nice driving Mary Lu!). Drove all the way through Connecticut. Waved at the my family cemetery in Ashford, CT, as we drove by since it was too late to stop. Final destination: Leominster, MA.

Had to get our ice cream fix!

Day 4: Boston's Freedom Trail. LOTS of walking! Climbed 294 stairs. Plotted to steal the USS Constitution. Decided against going to federal prison. :) Ate some really yummy pizza. Visited some very old cemeteries. We loved Boston!

Oldest commissioned ship of the US Navy: USS Constitution.

Day 5-6: Lexington/Concord. Shot heard round the world, and the start of the Revolution. Also home to a literary revolution: Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, Emerson, etc. Almost went swimming in Walden Pond (Not really cuz it was raining and cold, but Mary Lu got close!). Visited the Boston Temple. Went on historic trolley ride. Ate lots of ice cream. Good times.

Princess Pink Cookie Dough ice cream (Just in case you were wondering, it was actually really good!)

Day 7: HURRICANE SANDY. That's all I need to say. All flights got cancelled, and we made a mad dash to the closest airport that still had flights going: Indianapolis, Indiana. We crossed 6 or 7 states in 14 hours. But we made it home!

Phew. November is going to have to wait until the next post! :)
